A couple N stories

First of all N is on a mission to get some more babies in this world! He is constantly on my case to have another baby and also frequently complaining because he only has two cousins. That is just not enough! My favorite conversations with N always happen in the car. Here is one from a few weeks ago:

N: "Mom, I want to be a kid forever.
Me: "Why?"
N: "When you're a kid, you get to do way more fun stuff . I'm really glad I don't have to be a mom!"
Me: (Laughing and just can't wait to hear the reasoning behind this one!) "Why?"
N: "I really wouldn't want to get a baby cut out of my tummy...or sometimes it comes our your bottom."

I then say something about how he doesn't need to worry because he will get to be a Dad and that is really fun too. Then, silence from the back...

Wait for it...

N: "Mom, how does the baby get in your tummy? "
Hahaha! Oh, my "Little N", please stay a kid forever!!

Another random car moment....just driving down the road and N says "Mom, this has been a really fun year, hasn't it?" I love how sweet he is and how much he seems to enjoy life!

I was reading M's fortune the other day... "you will bring joy to someone close to you."

N: "What's joy?"
Me: "It means she will make some happy."
N:  "Oh! You mean happy like h-a-p-p-y?"
Me: "Yes."
N:  "And joy is j-o-y."

Such a smarty!

A couple weekends ago we were getting ready to go to Grancy's....

N:  "Mom, I am bringing my camera to Grancy's today." (He has a kid's digital camera)
Me: "Why?"
N:  "Because I have z-e-r-o pictures of Grancy on this camera!"
Life had become more challenging for me and S, now that we can't spell over him to communicate certain things.
Love you N!

Good Fortunes

At daycare, there is a basket of fortune cookies by the door for the kiddos to have alittle snack on their way home. My kids always take one and then have me read them their fortunes. This was one of M's and it made me laugh out loud! How appropriate.

I see no danger of that with Miss M!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

For the first time ever, we all went to St. Paul's St. Patrick's Day parade. Not sure how many times we will go again. After almost two hours, it was still going! At least it wa sa gorgeous day and we went with our good friends, the M's.

N wore a special tie that his Grancy got him for the day

After the parade, the kiddos napped at Grancy's while we went for lunch and some green beer....here's me and M1

Backyard Fun

When we got home from the zoo, I was working in the gardens, while the kiddos played. They invented their own game, which they found extremely funny! It made me laugh too, mostly because they were laughing so hard.
They stuck a rain gutter extension into the handle of the fire pit and he rolled a superball down, into her face.

Fair's fair! Then they switched spots!

Having a little snack, in one of his favorite places to sit

We Went to the Zoo, Zoo!

Lately, I have been working a weekend day here and there and having a weekday off with the kiddos. The fun part about this is that we have been able to catch up with some of our friends that we don't see so often and have some great playdates! This day, we met our friends, the R's, minus TR1. Very fun day! my kiddos were so cute. They obviously missed their friend P quite a bit, as they kept fighting to be by her. :)

Weeee! M loves slides!

M and P, diggin' in the rocks

Three cute little friends...and a might cute little profile on the left!

Catching up, over lunch. ;)

Thanks R's! Makes me want to work more weekends!

Checkin' out the Pearly Whites

I took the two kiddos to the dentist to get their teetch checked. We had m go first, since last time she got a little antsy and not so cooperative. She was a champ this time!

N got x-rays for the first time. The hygenist took him to another room to take them. When she came back she said she could not get over how smart he was. She said he was reading everything on the machine, then quizzing her all about it. :)

The Dentist used the x-rays to see when n might start losing his teeth. His estimate was summer or early fall. N tried very hard to negotiate for Spring, but no luck. Haha!

Happy to report, no issues! Both kiddos teeth look great!

A Sign of Spring

On one of our early, really warm evenings this Spring, we headed over to our friends the L's for an evening barbeque. I didn't take any pictures there, but the car ride over made me smile because the kiddos were in their baseball hats and it just made it feel even more "Springy"!

Rapunzel made the trip too. :)

A moment of sweetness

I caught these two sitting sweetly on the couch, while big brother brushed his little sisters hair. So cute that my heart melted just a little. :)

Mama's Little Helper

I LOVE that Miss M loves to help. She is always picking up toys, putting dirty clothes in the hampers, being a little gopher for us...the best part is that lately, when you ask her to do something, she says "oh, of course!" Cracks me up! Here she is helping me out in the yard on a beautiful spring afternoon.

Miss M's first movie!!

This month, we took the kids to a movie, which happened to be M's very first movie in a theater. she was SO excited! We went to the Lorax.

The even had a special booster seat for her, which she got at the front and happily carried to her seat all by herself! I wasn't sure if she would get antsy, but she never moved and told me all about the story on the way out, so I know she got it all!

We all loved it! I asked N on the way out if he liked the movie and he said, "Mom, it was the happiest and the saddest movie I ever saw!" Oh, N, you crack me up!

What a great family outing!

Another Quilt!

Many of the "kids" in my family that have gone off to college, have gone with a quilt made of t-shirts from their childhood. So, my little cousin Tyler, who makes me feel old like no one can because it feels like yesterday he was crawling, is graduating this year and heading off to Macalester College. My mom, Aunts, and I started working on his quilt for him to take with this Fall. It was really fun to put together(plus I got to spend time with the lovely ladies in my family!). Some of the t-shirts in it are ones I have gotten him in my travels. Here are some pics of the start.

The Project Leader :)

Our professional "ironer," she wasn't allowed to touch the machines.  Hehe

Making progress!

Found the red one in Italy

One of my most favorite trips ever!

And one of my other most favorite trips...Kauai

So glad we can make such a cool thing for his to take to college, made by all of us!

M at school

One of the best parts of my day is picking my kids up from school. Often, I am greeted by a teacher saying "I have to tell you what you daughter did today." It is usually something amusing.

A couple weeks ago the story was that when the teacher turned her back, M took her clothes off and layed on the floor. When her teacher, Ms. Jill, asked what she was doing, her response was "practing swimming." I was sure if I should have laughed or assured the teacher that we do not in fact swim naked in our family!

If I am not met with a funny story, I am met with M in a costume, usually also funny. Here was what she greeted us in yesterday:

Princess dress and sorcerer's cap...with aqua tennies under the dress.

That's my girl!

Our "Little N"

Lately, Miss M has been so darn entertaining that I feel like I am lacking in the N entries. This post will be some of my recent N stories that make me laugh.

As we were driving with N in the car one day, I heard him giggling to himself in the backseat. I asked him, "n, what's so funny back there?" He mumbled something. I asked, "what did you say?" N: "I was just kidding mom. Sometimes my life is just so fun!"

Awhile back, we lost our Disney Channel on our cable. At first, the kids were bummed, but then got into Dora and Diego because we can instant stream them on Netflix. Turns out, as the Diego seasons progressed, Diego got a "new voice." I noticed, but didn't say anything. Then, as the kids were watching, suddenly N said "Diego sounds different....maybe he has strep throat. I'm just kidding, he's just an episode...I mean a cartoon." Oh to be in his head for a few minutes! Haha

My mom called me at work one day that she had my kids to tell me an N story. As they were driving(he must be extra funny in the car), she said to him, "N, I would like to take all of Uncle J's stuff from my house and drive it to him in Montana, but I would like someone to ride with me in the car." Silence in the backseat....."N, would you like to drive to Montana with me to see J and B?" N says, "Grancy, how about if I just fly and meet you there?" I laugh every time I think of this. Do you think he's been at all spoiled by flight benefits?! A boy after my own heart!

Yesterday, I walked in N's room to get something and noticed that he had done a little decorating. It just struck me as really cute.

He must have dug through his foam numbers to find the number five and displayed it.
This morning he asked me if I saw the number five in his room. I said yes, I like it. He informed me that he would change it every year until the numbers ran out.

My little honeys

I know I'm biased, but sometimes they are so cute I just can't stop the camera!

One Excited Little Girl

Someone's Grancy spoils her just a bit.
Miss M's Grancy made her a quilt. She is also the one that made her curtains and painted her flowers on her bedroom walls. Every night when I put M to bed, she looks up at the flowers on her wall and says "My Grancy made those for me." Now that she has her new quilt, she grins every night and tells me about how her Grancy made her quilt for her. The other night, she really made me laugh. She ointed at her curtains and said "My Grancy made me those. I'm so proud of her!"

She's easily pleased and so appreciative. So fun to see!
